ZEUS PROVES AUTHORITY OVER TECHNODANCE 2017; NEWTON DOMINATES JINGLE CONTEST

September 22 – Scintillating in their crushed CD-covered costumes, behind them were frisky light effects and wafting smoke, Grade 10 Zeus, led by their adviser Mrs. Mary Lourd Santos, astonished the judges and the audience, garnering 98% during the Science Month culminating activity.
BANG! Grade 10 Zeus paints a powerful movement to claim victory during the second leg of the Science Month Culminating Activity.

Their closest competitors were Grade 9-Hermes landing 1st place, and Grade 9-Hera, second.

“In a dance contest, the group should really dance as one,” commented Mrs. Merlita Abao, the school’s Music teacher and one of the judges, after the program. She added that ‘if one dances best, the rest must also show the same best performance level; otherwise, that one person must opt to perform alone’. According to her, the winning teams possessed an obvious unity throughout the performance.

Divided into two categories, the culminating activity provided an avenue for both elementary and high school students to take their special moments to shine and to prove they’re worth the awards. Supervised by Ms. Arianne Basallo, Grade 5 – Newton, in the first part of the program, wowed the spectators in their well-synchronized dance performance and outstanding melodies. They received an exceptional 95.33% from the judges.
Grade 5 - Newton, under the supervision of Ms. Arianne Basallo, pose after being hailed CHAMPION.

Second to Newton was Grade 5 – Faraday, then Grade 6 – Leeuwenhoek.

The Jingle Making Contest, participated by Grades 4 to 6, highlighted human body systems. Grades 1, 2, and 3, on the other hand, had kept the atmosphere lively with their admirable intermission numbers.

Before the second leg of the awarding ceremony, Mr. Andrei Czesar Almarez, a Math teacher, with the band from Grade 11, surprised the crowd in his remarkable rendition of Air Supply’s “I’m All Out of Love” while the spectators, giggling in excitement, wondered to whom the song was dedicated.

The program aims to inculcate to students the invaluable contribution of science in making life easy and convenient, and why science has to be optimized, according to the school principal, Mrs. Mary Grace Arce, in her opening remarks.

EXHAUSTED YET EXHILARATED

Casa de San Miguel Montessori School has been so busy this Friday in preparation for next week’s array of activities. The Miguelians roamed different spots to see students and teachers delighted in the hustle and bustle of the school.
“Excited na po ako!” said Samantha Kate Lacorte, Grade 4-Curie.
While the Sawali Hall was resounding with footsteps for the Foundation Day field demonstrations, the court meanwhile was jam-packed with participants for the Sports Fest.
After a few hours, members of each team were gathered into rooms to rehearse for the last time their cheers and yells. The composed lines were so powerful that they can surely intimidate other competing teams. The lines “kami ang mananalo” and “umuwi na kayo”, although harsh, are indeed passionate pronouncement of victory. The high school students seem to embody a strong command to train the younger participants, and they are so earnest to make the Elementary schoolers feel the need to dominate other teams.
With this year’s another thematic approach to Sports Fest (thanks to the fresh idea of the chairmen) which was inspired by the famous Pokemon Go Miguelians will definitely set the fiery arena next week. Will Valor team be stirred by their winning ardor? Will Instinct team be effectively driven by their innate capabilities to overpower the opponents? Will Mystic team’s “calm analysis of situation” be their indomitable stance? Or, will Harmony team---not really one of the teams---be able to stabilize the warring grounds and be the champ? Miguelians will have to prove their teams’ worth and show one another that Sports Fest is not a mere battle ground but most importantly, a significant event to foster cooperation, composure, courage, and various capacities.
The entire day had been so musical because the choreographer at the Sawali Hall had been teaching the students for both the field demo and the High School Night on February 4. Students from Grades 1, 2, and 3 were really charming as they gracefully brushed the floor with their energetic feet. The high schoolers showed how passionate they were in dancing. Not known to everyone, dancing continues till night so cheerdancers can orchestrate their major presentation for next week.
Simultaneously, a book fair entitled “Bookaneer” brought by Scholastica, is being mobbed by young readers along the Casa Department corridor.
Everybody was tired but exhilarated. The thrill surges. It’s unstoppable. It’s really fun at CDSMMS!

MIGUELIANS PREPARE FOR SPORTS FEST '17

Supervised by teacher-coaches, high school students met today their lower grade partners (Grades 1 to 3) to orchestrate wild and powerful cheers and yells in preparation for the Pokemon-inspired Sports Festival in Casa de San Miguel Montessori School.
The three-day sports events will run from February 6 to 8. The competing teams have been named Harmony, Instinct, Valour, and Mystic.
During the meeting yesterday, team coaches had assigned respective players for basketball, street soccer, volleyball, 50m dash, 100m dash, long jump, table tennis, and relay. There will also be individual games like scrabble, chess, and basketball shoot outs.
To ready the players, some hours were allotted for practices. The Miguelians flooded the court to play volleyball, basketball, and dodge ball. In the middle of ongoing passionate planning, there came a heavy downpour (as if the sky was also stirred up due to excitement).
The event is chaired by high school teachers, Mr. Justin Angelo Salazar and Mrs. Diojana Natanawan.
