FAMILY DAY '17: The Myriad Meanings of Love and Joy

IT WAS LIKE A STORM OF VIBRANT COLORS. Four groups of happy families in red, blue, green, and yellow shirts altogether celebrated Family Day 2017 at Casa de San Miguel Montessori School, November 18.

Before the sun fully spread its light across the sky, many families had already arrived, feeling dosed with vigor and excitement. This year's Family Day targeted to invite family members to join their kids in fostering a stronger parent-child bond through wholesome activities, the venue and instrument of which is the school---their second home.

The feeling was priceless, and almost indescribable. The myriad bright colors suggested an inviting ambiance for all families, especially for parents who, despite having no enough rest from yesterday's toil, willingly chose to spend quality time with their young ones.

Like year 2016, last Saturday's big event was jam-packed with Zumba dance and traditional relay games. The Zumba alone tested families' endurance that resembles Filipino resiliency---unyielding and firm. The session may have run for almost an hour of non-stop strenuous dance but both kids and their parents or guardians proved themselves unstoppable. Thanks to the ever-encouraging master of the ceremony, Mr. Andrei Czesar Almarez.

Aside from parents and their children, The Miguelians also witnessed the school's dynamic teachers, both the new and the pioneering ones, who seemed very fascinated by the sonorous beat of the songs.

Sweaty and almost running out of breath, the participants nevertheless thought of the group or team for which they were dancing. Every family was perhaps aiming to receive the best performing family awards.

Filipinos are known for being family-oriented. Likewise, they're known for exemplifying a happiness and contentment amid life's struggles. Here in Casa de San Miguel Montessori, Family Day serves as a reminder of the ultimate essence of building and strengthening families. Building a family is not merely earning a living; it's also living to earn what money can never acquire---love and joy.
OUR BEAUTIFUL TEACHERS. (From left) Teachers Marineth, Rizza, Tatiana, and Angelene showed the crowd the right way to dance Zumba!
ALWAYS WINNER TOGETHER. Last year, Tamondong Family bagged awards. This year, they did it again!

HAPPINESS THAT CAN'T BE CONTAINED. Look at this family. They're voice isn't audible but their joy is definitely too infectious!

SA PAKIKIPAGKAIBIGAN NAGSISIMULA ANG ISANG RELASYON - Sun

Scout Palabas battle of Lakans and Lakambinis captures intriguing questions about making smart decisions and choosing options wisely

Silang, Cavite, October 26 - Jux Lenox Sun (Grade 9) and Daphne Tuazon (Grade 7), the Night Camp Lakan and Lakambini 2017, both wowed the audience and the auxis (Grade 10 facilitators) in their brilliant answers during the question and answer portion of the Scout Palabas.
According to Sun, when asked of Mrs. Mary Lourd Santos to choose from pakikipagkaibigan (making friends) and pakikipagrelasyon (building relationship), he would opt for the former. “Mas pipiliin ko po ang pakikipagkaibigan dahil sa pakikipagkaibigan nagsisimula ang isang relasyon.” With that spontaneous answer, the crowd unanimously gave him a wild cheer.

On the other hand, Tuazon, the Lakambini representing Patrol T'boli was given a seemingly more thought-provoking question; that is, “If you would be given a chance to be a man, what would you like to discover in being a man?”

The crowd seated on a grassy site of Int’l Institute of Rural Reconstruction couldn’t just contain their astonishment upon hearing Tuazon’s last few words. The battle of the Lakans and the Lakambinis aims to unfold the richness of Miguelians’ ability to think critically and sensibly.

The day camp winners this year were Patrols Mangga and Melon, garnering 145 and 175 points respectively, against other fruit patrols, October 25.

Each station, strategically positioned inside the campus, tested the campers’ combined wit, speed, and patience. Their advisers, likewise, enthusiastically cheered for their kids throughout.
The winning teams were supervised by their teachers, namely, Mrs. Jenny Cruz and Mrs. Lilibeth Viado (Mangga) and Mrs. Lourdes Fuentes (Melon). The whole activity was headed by Mrs. Daisy Dasig Cabel.

ZEUS PROVES AUTHORITY OVER TECHNODANCE 2017; NEWTON DOMINATES JINGLE CONTEST

September 22 – Scintillating in their crushed CD-covered costumes, behind them were frisky light effects and wafting smoke, Grade 10 Zeus, led by their adviser Mrs. Mary Lourd Santos, astonished the judges and the audience, garnering 98% during the Science Month culminating activity.
BANG! Grade 10 Zeus paints a powerful movement to claim victory during the second leg of the Science Month Culminating Activity.

Their closest competitors were Grade 9-Hermes landing 1st place, and Grade 9-Hera, second.

“In a dance contest, the group should really dance as one,” commented Mrs. Merlita Abao, the school’s Music teacher and one of the judges, after the program. She added that ‘if one dances best, the rest must also show the same best performance level; otherwise, that one person must opt to perform alone’. According to her, the winning teams possessed an obvious unity throughout the performance.

Divided into two categories, the culminating activity provided an avenue for both elementary and high school students to take their special moments to shine and to prove they’re worth the awards. Supervised by Ms. Arianne Basallo, Grade 5 – Newton, in the first part of the program, wowed the spectators in their well-synchronized dance performance and outstanding melodies. They received an exceptional 95.33% from the judges.
Grade 5 - Newton, under the supervision of Ms. Arianne Basallo, pose after being hailed CHAMPION.

Second to Newton was Grade 5 – Faraday, then Grade 6 – Leeuwenhoek.

The Jingle Making Contest, participated by Grades 4 to 6, highlighted human body systems. Grades 1, 2, and 3, on the other hand, had kept the atmosphere lively with their admirable intermission numbers.

Before the second leg of the awarding ceremony, Mr. Andrei Czesar Almarez, a Math teacher, with the band from Grade 11, surprised the crowd in his remarkable rendition of Air Supply’s “I’m All Out of Love” while the spectators, giggling in excitement, wondered to whom the song was dedicated.

The program aims to inculcate to students the invaluable contribution of science in making life easy and convenient, and why science has to be optimized, according to the school principal, Mrs. Mary Grace Arce, in her opening remarks.
